Jones the Dance currently has a board of six trustees who come from a wide variety of backgrounds and have a broad cross-section of skills and experience which ensures that we are doing things in the right way and that we can properly plan for the future.

We are looking for new board members… keep scrolling down for more info and get in touch.

Lydia had worked in the arts in Wales for nearly 30 years. She’s currently Executive Director of Mid Wales Opera and producer/support worker to She Wolf. She’s a fundraiser and project manager, wrangler of children and spaniels, choral singer and flautist.

Lydia said on JtD, “I’m hoping I can use my experience as a fundraiser and arts manager to support Gwyn and Kate in building the profile and funding base this company deserves. Wales needs confident, competent contemporary performance fit for an international stage and Jones the Dance’s work is just that. We also need inspirational performers working in communities to provide a role model to our young dancers, particularly in rural Wales, and to help them explore their own identities and develop their own talents.”

“I’m so happy to be joining the Jones the dance board and can't wait to support the amazing work they do across Wales and beyond. Over 13 years I've gained leadership experience in arts organisations in Wales. I'm bringing to Jones my fundraising knowledge and skills around inclusive practice to co-build a resilient and inclusive organisation.”

Beth House

I am thrilled to join Jones The Dance as a board member. As founder of Rethink How and with an extensive international corporate experience in sustainability and impact, I am eager to contribute to our mission of transforming the contemporary Welsh dance scene. I'm committed to breaking down barriers and fostering inclusivity in dance, and I look forward to collaborating and learning on this journey.

Hazel is a multi-disciplinary artist whose current interest in the convergence of aesthetics and political philosophy has led her to many conversations and projects that have brought new adventures in her artistic journey. David is an arts fundraising and marketing professional living in Cardiff.

Originally growing up in Kent, David first moved to Wales to study at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, graduating with a BMus and an MA in Arts Management. Since then, he has worked in a number of arts and charity roles, including with BBC National Orchestra of Wales, BBC Proms, Greenwich Dance and Newport Mind.

He joined National Youth Arts Wales in 2020 as Fundraising and Development Manager, where to date he has raised more than £1 million in additional income from both private and public funding streams. He also leads on the organisation’s marketing and communications strategy, data collection and impact reporting, and earned income generation.

David still occasionally finds the time to play trombone in local orchestras and big bands. In his spare time, he also loves choral singing, gardening, and video gaming.

The future for Jones the Dance

“I’m absolutely delighted to become Jones the Dance’s new Chair. JtD has a truly exciting creative vision, and a brilliant team delivering groundbreaking work for Wales’s dance sector. My passion has always been to help make the arts accessible to everyone, something I know that JtD shares with me, and drives their work.

“As Chair, I want to help the team to build a sustainable, long-term business model, upon which we can build an innovative creative programme. I’m also really looking forward to hearing directly from young people, and from D/deaf and disabled dance artists, about what we can do to best support them and their dance practice, and how we can continue to make our work truly inclusive and equitable.”
