Join the interactive cinematic journey that’s like no other, right on your doorstep

Be transported to the epic clifftops of Anglesey where four young souls, each with a tale to tell, meet in the desolate but breath-taking ruins of Porth Wen Brickworks. Whose story is revealed and what happens next is up to you.

  • Mack just wants to be himself. Scared by previous experiences of him revealing his true self, he feels confined by society and the people around him.

  • Indy calls herself a bad feminist, but it’s not her that makes her that way. The relentless gaze and attention makes her question everything she does.

  • Ez is confused about how to be a young man in a society that forces him to behave in a particular way. He longs to be liked but finds himself making mistakes with people.

  • Ieua suffers from crippling anxiety and worries that she turns people away. She can be obsessive but she just can’t help it.

Come and experience the intimate, interactive cinematic world of Y Dewis this Spring. With its arresting mix of film, dance and live performance it is an experience that’s like no other and definitely not to be missed.

An epic mix of dance, story, Welsh, English and BSL

We work with a lot of young people in different parts of Wales. This new experience is inspired by their stories, the things they tell us about what it means to be young in Wales and working out who they are in the world.  The film is intimate, whilst being epic and cinematic, weaving together English, Welsh and BSL. With its mix of dance and story, all set against an exquisite natural backdrop that is engulfing an industrial past, it is a celebration of Wales, Welsh dance and the hope of young people.

Short films made by Jones the Dance’s young company

Each performance will include a short film made by our Young Company dancers (in our projects Quiet Beats and Jones Bach) inspired by the film and question ‘who has the right to choose or not?’. Check out local listings for which group’s film will be presented where.

*Permission to film at Porth Wen Brickworks was kindly given by its owners. There is no public access. We kindly ask on behalf of the owners that you do not visit. We think you will enjoy its decaying beauty just as much in the film.
