April - May 2026
Did you know that your body has its own memory?
It remembers what our mind forgets. Comfort, fear, joy and excitement - all stowed in your muscles and bones, ready to surface through your senses. Imagine the shivers that run down your spine when a bell rings, and you’re jolted back to your first day at school. Or the first chords of a particular song, conjuring up the flutterings of your first love once again.
The wonder of our bodies as archives of feeling and experience is revealed in our new immersive and playfully interactive production, I Remember Myself. At Gorff.
Throughout April and May, we’ll be taking over Oriel Davies, Mostyn Gallery and Glynn Vivian - three of Wales’s major visual arts spaces for a week each.
With four dancers, Anna Seymour, Dan Ozeri, Eddie Ladd and Gwyn Emberton, we will transform each gallery into a time capsule of moving memories, creating a unique experience where hidden histories are unlocked by their bodies, and shared through movement and stories told in Welsh, English and British Sign Language.
I Remember Myself. At Gorff isn’t just a performance about memories, but a joining of them in a shared experience.
Through the week leading up to each performance, we will spend time meeting a collection of local people through workshops, discovering stories, memories and experiences together. These will be woven in with the memories of the dancers, blurring the boundaries that exist between us. If you’re intrigued to join us for one of the workshops, you can sign up here.
During the performance, you will be invited to playfully influence what’s revealed, shared and danced, or you can simply sit back and be immersed in the unique version of the work, where the room is filled by an intimate shared journey of hope, hurt, love and loss.
Join us to be transported to a world of beautifully moving stories set to a transportive soundscape and who knows perhaps you’ll unearth some of your own long forgotten gems in the process.
Everyone is welcome.

Workshops
Would you like to inspire a new dance production?
Through the week leading up to each performance, we would like to meet you in a fun and creative workshop, where you get to discover some of your memories and experiences that you might have forgotten. The workshop will include moving, discussing, and mindful moving practices, all in a safe space. With your permission, the stories, thoughts, and ideas discovered in the workshop will be woven in with the memories of the dancers’, blurring the boundaries as they are performed in the gallery at the end of the week.
Sign up via the gallery - details opposite.
(Any stories that are shared in the workshop will only be incorporated into the work with your permission, and regardless they will not be attributed to you personally in any way.)

The background and research of I Remember Myself. At Gorff.
The research behind IRMAG was part of a larger project called The Autobiography of the Body, which took place with dancers Amancio Gonzalez, Bella Khanamidi, Efva Lilja, Kim, Noble and Yoirgos Pelagais and Rehearsal Director and Dramaturg Sarah Bellugi, with composer Sion Trefor collaborating on the music. It was supported by Wales Arts International, Region Skåne, MARC and Skånes Dansteater in 2023.
The project and Gwyn’s research are inspired by the work and techniques of psychiatrist, author and researcher Bessel van der Kolk of people suffering with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Daniel Levitin’s writings on the ageing body and Gwyn’s own interest into body awareness and self/consciousness.
