  • Sarah Adedeji - Narrator & Writer

    Sarah is a Deaf dancer with a passion for writing. She is a 22 year old Black British Nigerian who is London based - born and raised - and an Oral Deafie with BSL and SSE in her back pocket. Whilst she is a creative {dancer, poet, writer}, she is also an audiologist, qualified July 2022, and a digital content creator through which she became a co-founder of Socially Sound on Instagram and Tiktok and a content creator for Language First - both as of 2022.

    Sarah has trained with Chris Fonseca, Raphaella Julien, and Natasha Volley; all of whom are Deaf/HoH dancers and teachers. She worked with Krystal Lowe, one of which was Whimsy. She contributed to the exploration of bridging multiple languages in one piece. She has danced in music videos for emerging artists J.A.Y.B and Dras OMT. Other works include Deaffest and Deaf Rave, for whom she is a regular artist. Sarah is also a Sign Song Artist.

    Sarah’s writing credits include ‘What Meets The Eye: The Deaf Perspective’ a Deaf Anthology. Empowerment, a black-run initiative, invited Sarah to perform, as well as at Tottenham Literature Festival hosted by the Bernie Grant Arts Centre.

  • Alys Davies - Dancer

    Alys is a professional freelance contemporary dancer, who trained at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, and graduated in 2016 (specialising in classical ballet). She then moved to Bologna, Italy and graduated from Art Factory International: Dance Start Up training programme in 2017 and then gained a First Class Honours Degree in Professional Practice within the Arts and Creative Industries from Middlesex University in 2022.

    She has worked both in the UK and Italy, with choreographers such as Anna Watkins, Roberto Zappalà, Anne Marie-Smalldon, Taira Foo and Gwyn Emberton, and companies such as Compagnia Zappalà Danza, Jones the Dance/y Ddawns, EQ Dance CO and National Dance Company Wales. She has also worked on dance films, outdoor dance performances, site-specific projects, music videos, and has collaborated with musicians, writers, filmmakers and dramaturgs on various projects.

  • Amber Howells - Dancer

    Amber is a socially and ecologically-engaged dance artist and aspiring writer from the heart of Cardiff. She graduated from Northern School of Contemporary Dance in 2020 before joining Rubicon Dance Company in 2021 for a year, performing works by Anna Watkins, Marcus Jarrell-Willis and Jamiel Laurence. In her freelance career, she has worked on ‘Daughters of the Sea’ by Krystal S. Lowe, Netflix’s Sex Education with choreographer Ewan Jones and performed in ‘The Nutcracker’ at Cardiff Castle. She also works as an Instructor for Heels Empowerment, teaching people heels technique and empowering them to own their sensuality.

  • Elias Khanamidi - Dancer

    Swedish dancer, Elias, trained at Hvillan Modern Dance Academy, and performed several student works on the stage at Skånes Dansteater and was runner up in the Swedish Breaking Championships.

  • Jack Thomson - Dancer

    Born in York, Jack is a dancer, photographer and filmmaker.

    He graduated from the Rambert School and has since worked with choreographers Alexander Whitley, Shobana Jeyasingh, Shelley Maxwell, Kate Flatt, Mark Baldwin, Stina Quagbeu, Richard Chappel and Redha Benteifour. In addition he has performed works by Ohad Narhin, Blanca Li, Itzik Galil, Willi Dorner, Caroline Finn and Justin Peck to name a few.

    He has danced for companies including Phoenix Dance Theatre, English National Opera, The Royal Opera House, and worked on projects with Tate Modern, Issey Miyake, Hermes, Maison Margiela, Swatch, Walt Disney Studios, BBC Proms and ABBA .

  • Elena Carys-Thomas (Host Welsh/English)

    Elena is a bi-lingual Welsh actress who has worked for a variety of different theatre companies, including Welsh National Opera, Sherman Theatre , Theatr Gen, National Theatre Wales and many more

    Most recently Elena played the lead of Elizabeth in Wars of the Roses at Warwick castle and before that Titania in Midsumemr nights dream.Alongside her theatre work Elena has also acted in film and TV for Amazon Prime, S4C, BBC Wales, and has recently completed shooting on a comedy pilot for BBC Wales.

  • Jayden Reid - Host (BSL)

    My name is Jayden Reid, Born and Raised in the south east of London. Growing up, I’ve always had a huge interest in Dance and loved to dance for friends and family, my love for dance drove me into the world of arts starting with school, studying performance Arts and Music Technology.

  • Gwyn Emberton - Choreographer & Director

    Gwyn is the Artistic Director and founder of Jones the Dance. He has been working in dance for over 20 years as a choreographer, performer, producer, teacher and dramaturg, working across the UK and internationally. Originally from, Montgomery, a small town in Mid Wales he is passionate about sharing dance with those who don’t expect it and about developing the future dance artists from Wales.

    Gwyn’s previous works for Jones the Dance (formerly Gwyn Emberton Dance) include My People, Shadow of a Quiet Society and Raft which toured widely across Wales and the UK. His solo work Of the Earth, from where I came was presented across Europe, the Middle East, as part of Dance Roads and at British Dance Edition.

  • Aaron Lindblom - Director of Photography

    Aaron is currently based in Umeå, Sweden, and working under SEKAI Media, which he founded with Victor S. Lundvall. He has worked in photography and video making the last 3-4 years with projects ranging from weddings, corporate videos, live performances and campaigns and more.

    Before founding SEKAI Media in Umeå he worked partly as a freelancer as well as under other production companies such as Bodesand & Co (bodesand.se). His projects range from short form to longer doc-style corporate presentations or commercials as well as working with live performances, real estate, local political parties and more.   • Kenneth Ly - Cinematographer

    Kenneth is the cinematographer and camera operator for The Film Project. He is a freelancer with independent film, music videos and dance videos. He has worked with local theatre companies in Umeå, independent musicians, dancers, activist groups, Balettkademien, Norrlandsoperan and SVT. Kenny also trained as a dancer.

  • Victor Söderlund Lundvall - First AD

    Victor began SEKAI Media with Aaron, and works with various companies in and around Umeå. They produce films from start to finish, including simpler writing and/or storyboarding, shooting, as well as all post production in house. Their projects range from shortform to longer doc-style corporate presentations or commercials. We’ve worked with live performances, real estate, local political parties, restaurants, events, retail vendors and more.

    Most recently Siôn he has been composing music for shows on Netflix, BBC, S4C, and a string of feature films. He has been working with Gwyn on the development of several projects.

  • Nick Davies - Sound Designer

    Born in Newtown and now based in Cardiff, Nick is a sound recordist, dubbing mixer, sound designer and the director of Meteor Sound Ltd. He has worked with BBC, Channel 4 and with S4C on a number of programmes and documentaries including Dare To Dance (S4C) Being First Minister (BBC Wales), UK Prisons: Inside Survival (Channel 4).

  • Lois Prys - Designer

    Lois is a professional designer with over twenty years experience in a wide variety of fields including Production Design, Theatre Stage and Costume Design, Event Branding and Design and Interior design and styling. You may have seen many of her designs on S4C productions, Theatr Clwyd (Curtain Up), Theatr Bara Caws, and event design at Eisteddfod yr Urdd.

    Lois is passionate about creating innovative and magical spaces that look great and work effortlessly for the design purpose.

  • Iola Ynyr

    Iola Ynyr - Writer

    Iola is a wordsmith and works with a wide range of communities across Wales encouraging their wellbeing through creative writing. She is lead artist on ‘Ar y dibyn’; with Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru for individuals living with dependency.

    Her play ‘Ffenast Siop’, co-written with Carys Gwilym for Theatr Bara Caws is a one woman show dealing with change during the menopause and will be touring Wales later this year.

    Iola also worked with us on the R&D on this project and working with young people across North Wales to inspire this film.

  • Liam Walsh - Production Manager

    Liam is a freelance production manager, light/ sound technician and artist, based in Cheshire. He studied Creative Arts at Birmingham University and has been actively engaged in the arts since graduating in 2001. He works with numerous companies around the UK, dividing his time managing dance, aerial and theatre productions.

    Besides this, Liam also co-creates light/ sound installations for public events. Having recently acquired funding from the Welsh Arts Council, he will be touring Wales with a new creation from late September 2023.

  • Jim Elliott - Technical Manager

    Since graduating with a degree in community arts and music in 1997, Jim worked almost entirely in the area he loves best – community and participatory arts.

    One of his first projects was helping participants to use ‘Soundbeam’ and other adaptive technology, to facilitate music with people with moderate to profound learning disabilities.

    He worked from 2001-2007 with Doncaster Community Arts, where he added to his skills by training as a film maker and animator. He founded Digital Dropout Media in 2002 as a participatory film company.

    Jim has led projects in hospitals, prisons, pupil referral units, day centres, toddler groups, youth clubs, museums, support groups, arts centres, theatres, madrasas, residential care homes, night shelters, mental health services, festivals, young farmer’s clubs, universities, challenging behaviour units and mainstream primary and secondary schools.

  • Eli Williams - Rehearsal Director

    Eli is a dancer, choreographer, lecturer, workshop coordinator and freelance dance artist based in North Wales and Cheshire. Eli trained at The University of Chester in contemporary dance, practising in techniques such as David Zombrano’s Low Flying Technique and somatic practices such as Skinner Releasing Technique taught by Manny Emslie. Here is where she gained her BA (Hons) and Masters Degrees in Dance.

    Alongside Eli’s work at the University of Chester, she also works for National Dance Company Wales and across a variety of schools and dance organisations within her freelance realm through a combination of performance, teaching, facilitating and engagement roles

  • Lowri Llewellyn Astley - Runner

    The pandemic saw Lowri quit working in education to pursue her TV dreams. Since then she has enjoyed roles as a production runner, art department assistant and documentary researcher. She also works as a freelance journalist and has written for The Independent, Guardian, Metro, Time Out, HuffPost and more.

  • Niall Jones - Runner

    Niall is from Beaumaris on Anglesey. He’s worked part-time as a freelance filmmaker for the last few years, balancing that with making coffees as a barista!

    “It's amazing getting the chance to work on a project that's showing off some of Anglesey's beauty. Jones the Dance have offered me a wonderful opportunity to gain valuable production experience. I'm excited to get started!"

  • Alice Farrar - Runner

    Alice is from North Wales and graduated with a degree in Film, Television and Digital Production at Bath Spa University and has since been working as a freelancer on various filmmaking projects including promotional, educational and fictional films for local organisations.
