More about I Remember Myself
I Remember Myself is a bold, immersive dance work developed by Jones the Dance, led by Artistic Director Gwyn Emberton, in collaboration with Oriel Davies Gallery. Part of the Autobiography of the Body (AOTB) project, I Remember Myself explores the relationship between memory, movement, and community, inviting audiences to rediscover their personal histories and engage in collective storytelling through dance. This innovative approach to contemporary dance challenges traditional performance formats, offering a participatory experience where the memories of the audience are intertwined with those of the performers.
I Remember Myself will be performed in Welsh, English, and British Sign Language (BSL), ensuring accessibility and inclusivity for a diverse audience.
Who you will be working with:
Concept: Gwyn Emberton
Performers and co-makers: Eddie Ladd, Anna Seymour, Gwyn Emberton

Access and inclusion
I Remember Myself will tour Wales in May 2026, performing in galleries and community spaces. By focusing on underrepresented communities—D/deaf, visually impaired, LGBTQIA+ youth, and rural populations—I Remember Myself seeks to break down barriers to dance, offering a shared space for people to connect with their bodies and with each other. The project aims to create lasting relationships within communities, ensuring that dance becomes a tool for healing, empowerment, and collective memory.
The work and methodology will draw from or reveal personal histories which may be triggering. This will be discussed and explored in the audition process and due to the potential sensitive nature of this we don’t expect that this work will be for everyone. If you decide it is not for you, this will not exclude you for future possibilities.
Jones the Dance is committed to creating an inclusive, equitable and accessible working environment where everyone feels a genuine sense of belonging. We actively encourage applications from people of the Global Majority, D/deaf and/or disabled individuals, LGBTQIA+ communities, Welsh speakers or learners, people from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, and those with lived experience that is currently underrepresented in the arts.
*Eligibility to work in the UK:
We welcome applications from international artists who are eligible to work in the UK under the Permitted Paid Engagement (PPE) visa route. This route allows many international performers to undertake short-term paid work in the UK without needing a full work visa.
Please note:
We can only consider applications from non-visa nationals who are eligible for the PPE route (e.g., citizens of the EU, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan).
We are unable to support more complex visa applications or cover the cost of international travel.
We will provide a formal invitation letter and any necessary supporting documentation for eligible applicants.
If you’re unsure of your eligibility, we’re happy to advise—please get in touch.
**Blind application process
We aim to run an anonymous invite process and will select dancers for audition based on the information we receive in an anonymous CV and cover letter/or BSL video. So please do NOT send dance videos or improv tapes.
All initial applications will be anonymised and then reviewed against specific criteria, with applicants invited based on their CVs and biogs.
